Maximizing Email Productivity with Gmail Show Time: A Comprehensive Review

The world of email and communication is constantly evolving with new tools designed to enhance the user's experience. One of these innovative tools is a Chrome extension known as Gmail Show Time. Rated with an impressive aggregate of 3.83 out of 5, this Gmail plugin is renowned for boosting your email productivity and streamlining your email management processes.

A Closer Look at Gmail Show Time Features

The Gmail Show Time extension is a Gmail notifier that primarily serves to display the time stamps of your emails. Unlike the default Gmail mail checker , this Chrome extension allows users to view the time of each email directly in their Gmail webpages, a feature that has been praised by users like Bret Van Ausdall. This function significantly increases productivity, especially when dealing with lengthy email chains.

In its latest major version 3, the Gmail Show Time extension also supports custom date/time formatting options, further personalizing the user's email experience.

User Feedback and Reflections

While the Gmail Show Time extension has been hailed by many users for its convenience and functionality, it has also faced some backlash due to a recent update that changed the user's default search engine. Tim Blumentritt, Andrew Gregg, Angela Defranco, and others have reported concerns over the extension's permissions and the search engine modifications.

It is important to note that in light of these concerns, the developers of Gmail Show Time have been extremely responsive. As seen in their version 3.7.1 update, they removed Bing as the default search engine until further notice. This demonstrates their commitment to user satisfaction and data security.

Potential Areas for Improvement

Despite its practical features and positive user feedback, Gmail Show Time is not without its shortcomings. Some users reported an 'Error' indicator appearing in their Chrome browser, as shared by Angela Defranco. While these issues may vary among different users, it is crucial for the developers to address these concerns to continue delivering a high-quality Gmail Chrome extension.

Final Verdict

Despite the recent controversy surrounding its updates, Gmail Show Time remains a robust and reliable tool for enhancing email productivity. By keeping their users at the forefront of their decisions and demonstrating willingness to act upon feedback, the developers of this Gmail extension have shown their commitment to excellence. For those in search of a tool that can improve their email management and communication, Gmail Show Time is worth checking out.

Does exactly what you'd expect it to do and has worked fine for me for years. I appreciate the developer keeping this extension up even after google decided to get rid of in-app payments.

Awesome, works great with full customization of date format! Thank you so much!

It is sad that you have to piece meal your work tools.

Exactly what I needed: this add-on shows the exact date and time in inbox view besides sender, label, subject, star, etc. This tiny tool does that, nothing else. Seconds are NOT displayed, it's worthless giving 1 star for a feature that is not included in this add-on. Special thanks to developer CleverInsert to make this available free of charge.

I would give this 5 stars, except that it doesn't add the most obvious time functionality that is missing in Gmail, and that is the Time Received including seconds. Gmail currently shows this, for example: Jan 23, 2024, 7:15 AM which is missing the seconds, like this: Jan 23, 2024, 7:15:26 AM. Why go to all the trouble to create an extension for customizing the displayed time in Gmail, but not include the seconds?? Let's hope the developer hasn't abandoned this project and makes the effort to add the "time is seconds" functionality.

Not worth anything. All it does is create a ton of new tab popups begging for donations. Go figure.

Bret Van Ausdall

It works! Adds times in so you find an hour/min of an email in a lengthy email chain to your gmail webpages.

Tim Blumentritt

Really appreciate this extension. It was startling to encounter the search engine issue, but I found the developer very responsive to sorting it out and now everything is back to working well as it had before.

Andrew Gregg

This extension was great until it updated to require new permissions completely unrelated to its function. It now alters the search engine.
